Women TIES Needs Your Signature on an ERA Petition
Women TIES and its Equality Division support the efforts of the "Get off the Sidelines, Get on the ERA Bus!" asking New Yorkers to answer the call to put the Equal Rights Amendment into the United States Constitution in 2024. They need your signature on a petition to secure lawmakers' signatures needed for an ERA Discharge Petition in the U.S. House of Representatives. If the Discharge Petition gets enough attention, they can finally bring the ERA to a vote by Congress which will hopefully pass and secure women's rights. YOU can help by signing your name to the petition at this email address: team@sign4era.org
This is a bipartisan effort. 218 signatures are needed to trigger a House floor vote. They have secured 214 votes. Every House Democrat has signed the ERA Discharge Petition, so this leaves only the Republicans to add their signatures. It's been 101 years since the ERA was first introduced in Seneca Falls, NY and it's long past due to be placed into the Constitution. Save the Date: National Women's March 2025
The Women's March, which Women TIES brought 120 women to in 2017, is now calling this year's march "The People's March." They say, "Donald Trump will be the next president, and the stakes are higher than ever. We will protect and defend each other." The time and location is TBA. But please sign up to let them know how you plan to take action at: The People's March by going to: https://www.mobilize.us/womensmarch/event/742704/ About the Presenter The Young Feminist Party is the political home for young feminists in the United States. We are building a powerful movement of young people, from communities and campuses across the country, to finalize the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) and advance gender justice for all. We started out in 2019 as a handful of teenagers in Virginia working to secure the 38th and final state ratification needed to publish the ERA. Since Virginia's ratification in 2020, we have grown into a nationwide movement of over 14,000 young people organizing for gender justice in our communities and Constitution. Through direct actions, legislative advocacy, electoral organizing, and judicial advocacy, The Young Feminist Party recruits, trains, and mobilizes young people to advance feminist policies–whether that's strengthening our school's Title IX policies or amending our nation's most foundational document. We are a membership-based organization. Although our events and actions are open to all, members receive access to movement-wide communication channels, resources and supports, and opportunities to organize. As a democratic organization, members directly vote on our leadership, campaigns, and priorities.
