Description: Khoros Performing Arts Company for Kids, Inc., also known as The KHOROS KIDS, was established as a community based non-profit cultural organization in 2002. For the past four years KHOROS has been collaborating with The Skaneateles Community Center in Skaneateles, NY offering an after school theater arts program, Curtain Call, during the fall and winter seasons. Patricia Rickard-Lauri is the founder and artistic director of Khoros Performing Arts Company for Kids, Inc.
The population of KHOROS is from ages six through young adult inclusive of hearing and deaf youth. Older participants are trained to become mentors to the younger participant in all aspects of the performing arts and sign language.
KHOROS' philosophy is that children, teens and young adults are inherently creative, best taught when encouraged to and draw outside of the box, tap into their own creative skills and express it through musical theater.

|
| |
Profile: I am an independent fashion designer, lover of textiles, a weaver, spinner and dyer (natural dyes). I love to create unique accessories with unusual fabrics. I am of Armenian heritage and often incorporate vintage textiles from my grandmothers in my work. I also love collage and working with dry mineral pigments, which allows me to experiment with many different mediums.
The Pre-Raphaelites played a large part in shaping my outlook, as I was an English major in college. I also love cats, big and small, especially Siamese.
Many things inspire me--people who do their best at whatever they do; the art, music and crafts of different cultures; beautiful plants, trees flowers and shells. I enjoy collaborating with other artists and like the energy that is exchanged.
What is so great about etsy is that I am meeting people who love to make things and there is a great sense of sharing in the community. I think we are onto something! I believe we are improving the quality of life by creating unique items for the public. We are returning to William Morris' idea that the value is in the individual's pride in his/her craftsmanship.

Description: Painting pictures is my way of relaxation. When I begin a new painting, it is usually because I have been inspired by seeing or feeling something that created a feeling inside of me. It could be happy or sad. I like to be able to brighten up someone's life with a painting. It isn't just a picture, it should stimulate a feeling of some kind. I also like to give back to the community by donating my paintings or give a percentage of the sales to a not for profit. |
